Barbara Abegg studied law at the University of Lucerne. Following her admittance to the bar in 2008, she worked as an attorney in Lucerne. Later, as the teaching assistant to Prof. Dr. Cyrill P. Rigamonti at the University of Berne’s Institute for Economic Law in the area of intellectual property law, she received her PhD submitting a doctoral dissertation on the commercial use of trademarks by third parties. Before joining TIMES Attorneys in March 2015, she was an associate with the IP boutique Troller Hitz Troller for two years.
Her work primarily concerns intellectual property law and competition law, in particular trademark law, copyright law, patent law and unfair competition law, as well as worldwide filing of trademarks and designs. She also deals routinely with matters of sports law, advertising law, media law, data protection law and pharmaceutical law. Barbara Abegg advises and represents parties as counsel in litigation and arbitration.
She is a member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), the Deutsche Vereinigung für Gewerblichen Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht (GRUR), the Institut für gewerblichen Rechtsschutz (INGRES) and the Bernese and Swiss bar Association. Furthermore, she is editor of the legal journal sic! (Journal for Intellectual Property, Information and Competition Law).
